How does gamification in business works?

Gamification in business is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. It is a set of activities and processes to solve problems by using or applying the characteristics of game elements.I have seen some amazing performance transformations and engagement levels in the journey, change in water cooler conversations from idle gossip to winning points and badges, child prodding his mother to perform better so that she could bring in home a master blaster badge, one employee even changed his mind about quitting. Having said that, there have been some learnings.
If you are in the midst of a roll-out or are planning to bring in gamification into your organisation, I would urge you to keep the following aspects in mind. I call them the ‘Ethos of Gamification‘.
· Have a sponsor at the senior level
· Clear tangible outcomes
· Keep it fun & engaging
· It is for your average and bottom performers
· Target setting
· It’s not about Points, Badges & Leaderboards
· Reward & Recognize — It’s not all about money
